The Olkiluoto nuclear power plant is located on the west coast of Finland in the municipality of Eurajoki about 25 kilometres north of the city of Rauma.

Construction of Olkiluoto 3 (Unit III) began in August 2005. A European Pressurised Water Reactor (EPR) was built. The EPR is the largest type of nuclear power plant built by the French nuclear company Framatome (2006 to 2018 AREVA). It was the first reactor of this type when construction began in 2005.

From planning to production and assembly, our customer received reliable solutions from a single source.

As a specialist and expert company for safety-related equipment, the order volume was steadily expanded over the course of the project. The complex requirements for doors, ventilation grilles and special constructions were carried out by SOMMER from planning, calculation, manufacture and delivery to assembly.

The manifold requirements such as fire protection, pressure wave, airplane crash, radioactive radiation, earthquake and terror protection formed the basis for the constructive implementation. Depending on the requirements, additional properties such as air tightness, water tightness and protection against electromagnetic waves were combined in products.
