Olympus European Headquarters

DGNB Gold at Olympus headquarters

The new headquarters of the medical technology group Olympus in Hamburg's Hammerbrook district was designed by the architects Gerkan, Marg und Partner (gmp) from Hamburg; the new building was realised by the Zech Group.

The aim was to create a state-of-the-art and sustainably built working environment that is geared towards activity-based working and promotes flexible and hybrid collaboration.

'The facade is designed in clinker bricks typical of the site. Above the plinth area, two to three storeys are visually combined in each case. Glass joints set the three building elements off from each other, thus achieving a scaled structural division of the large building lines. A highly efficient building envelope, natural window ventilation and high daylight availability at all workplaces characterise the rational overall design.'*
