On the former Balcke-Dürr site, the commercial location of Ratingen East is being further completed. The eight-storey office building is located on a slope at the new green centre, Ernst-Dietrich-Platz.
Two inner courtyards on the first floor, each opening generously to the east or west over two floors, break up the ring structure of the house above and mark the entrances by slanting the respective head walls. Freestanding dark columns support the load of the upper floors. In effect, a new urban district has been created whose axes, squares and surfaces are incorporated into daily walking routes by neighbors, residents and visitors as a matter of course - sustainability lived and built. The element facades in SOMMER's own SOKALTHERM system with large glass surfaces support the modern concepts of new workspaces.
