The objective of the master plan was to construct a university campus of architecturally sophisticated buildings, thereby independently interpreting and continuing the expressive, monumental, stone architecture of Hans Poelzig's IG-Farben-Haus.
The large volume of the Faculty of Humanities and Educational Sciences building is divided by two six-storey building sections shifted against each other. The large-scale glazing of the SOMMER window elements allow exciting views of the campus and a high degree of transparency. In combination with the light-coloured natural stone cladding, the element façade structures the building envelope in an objective and unagitated manner. The overall impression reflects the purpose of the building to house the "Normative Orders".
In order to meet the architectural requirements, we used special profiles with a brushed anodised surface made exclusively for this object
SOMMER supplemented its element facade and windows with sun protection, door and gate elements as well as light roof constructions.
