50Hertz Netzquartier, Berlin

Sustainability using the example of 50Hertz

One of SOMMER's goals is to continuously improve the sustainability of our construction projects by complying with the specifications of sustainability system certificates such as LEED, DGNB during planning, production, assembly and deconstruction. That is why we have been a member of DGNB e. V. since 2019.

Due to its outstanding architecture, the 50Hertz Netzquartier was also the first building worldwide to be awarded the "DGNB Diamond".

Our services: External facades from the 1st to the 12th floor with room-high LM facade elements (with couplings in a column grid of 1,350 mm or 2,700 mm). In the vertical facade grid, recessed elements are installed between the reinforced concrete slabs. In the vertical facade mullion profiles, a receiving groove for the guide springs of the external venetian blinds was incorporated. All glazing with fall protection function, sound insulation, thermal insulation and sun protection. On the upper side of the cantilevered reinforced concrete ceilings, a grating construction with rope safety system at the lower edge of the ceiling cladding for maintenance purposes. Front side and bottom view of the cantilevered ceiling clad with LM sheets. The ground floor facade as a large-format LM mullion-transom facade with a face width of 60 mm.

The all-round diagonal supports of the facade make the building appear dominant and sublime.

In order to create a more varied facade, individual columns were left out and others were added in a smaller grid. The resulting net-like framework allows for column-free interior spaces, which means that the rooms can be used and designed variably.
