SOMMER receives record order

SOMMER receives the largest order in its company history from the French state energy group EDF (Electricité de France SA)! The medium-sized family business (approx. 500 employees) from Upper Franconia in Bavaria is contributing its range of services to securing the planned six new EPR2 reactors in France. For SOMMER, this cooperation is not just another project in the field of high-security technology, but rather the continuation of a partnership that has existed since 2008.

With the signing of this new major order, EDF and SOMMER are further expanding their trusting cooperation in the long term. As part of this project, SOMMER will supply security doors and access hatches that meet the highest project-specific security requirements. Once again, SOMMER is underlining its leading international position when it comes to physical security issues.

"We are extremely proud of this order and see it as confirmation of our many years of experience and expertise in the field of high-security technology," explains Managing Director Oliver Sommer. "It is another highlight in our 130-year success story and shows that SOMMER is the number one contact for the implementation of complex security projects."
With this order, SOMMER is continuing its growth course and, despite the difficult economic conditions, continues to focus its value creation on Germany. The long-term planning security allows the company to expand development capacities and jobs and to make targeted investments in production facilities.

For SOMMER, the largest order in the company's history to date not only represents a historic milestone, but also a clear impetus for its future development. Through its current involvement in international high-security projects, SOMMER intends to further consolidate its leading role as a supplier of high-security technologies and contribute to the safe operation of reactors and thus to low-CO2 energy generation.
