In-house training for commercial trainees at SOMMER

On 09.07.2024, the commercial trainees at SOMMER experienced an exciting in-house training course that gave them in-depth insights into the company's service provision. In addition to imparting knowledge about the products and associated processes, the aim was to give the trainees mental images that they can draw on throughout their training.

Getting to know production from A to Z

Until now, the commercial trainees have rarely had the opportunity to see production up close. The focus was therefore on an extensive tour of production, which highlighted the various production areas of the company in several stages. Starting in the warehouse, through light metal construction, coating and the mechanical workshop to steel construction and special construction, the trainees were given a comprehensive overview of the company's vertical range of manufacture and product diversity. At the same time, they were always given a link to the departments they pass through as part of their commercial training.

The theory was followed by practice: in the training workshop, the trainees were able to build a training piece with the support of the construction mechanic trainees. This practical experience helped them to directly apply and better understand the manufacturing processes they had previously learned in theory.

"Understanding how services are produced in the company and the associated processes are fundamentally important for our commercial apprentices," said Christopher Seidler, responsible for commercial training. "Our trainees will benefit from the experience gained today in all further stages of their training."

The long-term goal of commercial training at SOMMER is to provide trainees with a comprehensive understanding of the interrelationships within the company. The aim is to prepare our trainees well for the challenges they will face in their future careers by providing the most comprehensive and wide-ranging training possible. The combination of theoretical principles and practical experience, as offered in this training course, deepens and consolidates learning. Regular excursions and practice-oriented learning modules provide additional support for the training.
