A cultural area is being built on the artificial island of Saadiyat in Abu Dhabi. Apart from the Louvre Museum of Art, the New York University, the New York Guggenheim Museum, the Zayed National Museum, a Maritime Museum and a Performing Arts Center are planned. These challenging projects were designed by the world´s most famous architects, Jean Nouvel, Rafael Vinoly, Frank Gehry, Norman Foster, Tadao Ando and Zaha Hadid. So far, only the projects New York University and Louvre Abu Dhabi have been realized.
In 2015 SOMMER obtained the order on 540 physical protection doors having to fulfill different requirements. Until the opening date on November 11, 2017, all security doors – which were designed and manufactured in Döhlau/Germany – were delivered. A highlight among the products were the 3.5m high glass entrance doors. These tubular steel profile systems were used to design single and double leaf doors. The SOMMER tubular frame doors offer high burglary protection and are at the same time aesthetically adapted to the architecture of the museum. In addition to the tubular frame doors, various sheet steel doors with high requirements according to burglary protection and fire protection as well as various access control systems were delivered, which were installed “behind the scenes”.
